So buckle up because we’re about to embark on an exciting journey of storytelling, insights, and real-time experiences from the road. Welcome to the Uber Ride Podcasting series!
The San Diego Padres Game and the Uber Ride
The evening started with me waiting at SNA airport for 5 hours waiting for a ride. Yes, it was a slow day and the Padres game concluded. I received a pickup request from but from Kettner Boulevard. Not normal as I am at the airport waiting for the big $. The passengers were a lively group of four, fresh from the excitement of the game and ready for their ride home. Btw, the Padres are 500 and not doing well.
The Uber Ride Podcast Conversation
The ride turned into an impromptu podcast recording session. They were in a great mood and talking very nicely. I asked, can I please record and share this as a Podcast. Just testing out my new way of recording. They all said YES.
We delved into a variety of topics, from artificial intelligence to music, and even the concept of real-time Uber podcasting. The passengers shared their insights and experiences, enriching the conversation. With their permission, I recorded our conversation, and capturing a unique narrative that would later become a podcast episode. 3 men were in this Uber ride and one woman and let me tell you. They were all talking and mean all of them.
The Recording Process
The recording process was a unique challenge. Balancing the task of driving with engaging in a lively discussion required focus and multitasking. I used my dash cam to get the outside and inside footage and that will be my backup video and audio feed. My Samsung Z fold 4 cell phone recorded the screen on my cell phone and my headset was on so my head recording good audio. Unfortunetly the Uber driver app kept going crazy. lol seriously, it is very buggy at times. I also used my old cell z fold 3 to get the audio from the 2 guys behind me, the 2 in the back row were loud so let’s see how it comes out. Now we have 3 sources of input for audio and 2 for video.
The Editing and Production Process
Post-ride, the task of editing and producing the podcast. The plan is to transform the hour-long conversation into digestible 5-minute clips, providing listeners with bite-sized insights from our journey. I will start with the beginning as they came in to the uber ride, then we will talk about each topic for 5 min and that will be two or 3 more videos. This process, while time-consuming, so an essential part of creating engaging and accessible content. The goal is to cut down the 1hr ride into 3 small 5 min stories.
The Outcome and Future Plans
The outcome of this unique podcasting journey has been interesting. Uber Ride Podcasting and YouTube playlist are all now podcasts. This is perfect timing as I start my new blog series. It’s a blog with photos and videos and also a podcast with audio and video on YouTube. This experience has opened up new avenues for engaging content because before creation during Uber rides was not possible. Everyday I pick up 5 passengers and now one can easily be a podcast conversation. My goal is to record, edit and upload the same day.
