Earnings Breakdown:
What the Passenger Paid: $75.04
Wait time at pickup: 1.43 minutes
Uber’s Cut: $22.96
My Total Earnings: $38.58
Reflection:
This ride was a very unique uber ride. The earnings were decent, considering the distance and duration of the ride. I will give you two versions, one with tip data and one with no top data. This article does not include the tip earnings as they came later. The cut that Uber took, which amounted to nearly 21.93% of the total customer price, was a bit steep. This is a reminder of the reality of rideshare driving – the platform takes a significant portion. Ask yourself why do they need to take 22%?
Ride Details:
The ride started from San Diego International Airport and you know my drill. I ended at a private home near North City, close to Del Mar. The strategic planning involved in choosing this ride was based on the location and the potential earnings from the distance ride. The pickup location, Terminal 2 Column B, was very busy with activity, typical of an airport environment at night. Pro tip, airports are always busy 7pm to 12am.
Passenger Description:
This was the fourth passenger I picked up that day. The ride was a bit awkward at the beginning, but we ended up having a great conversation towards the end. The passengers were a family – a husband, wife, and a child. Initially, they seemed a bit off, but as the ride progressed, we warmed up to each other. I think they were tired.
Personal Experience:
Maintaining my mood and energy level during the ride was a bit of a challenge initially due to the passengers’ mood. However, I managed to stay positive and engaged, which eventually led to a pleasant conversation. There were no personal needs or issues during the ride, and thankfully, no items were left behind by the passengers. Alway check after the ride. People tend to leave things at night.
Post-Ride Details:
– Starting gas amount and cost per gallon: $30.00, 6 gallons @ $4.47
– Odometer reading at the start: 190019
– Total miles driven on the previous day: 119 miles
– Vehicle details: 2021 Toyota Highlander
Driving Summary:
– Total miles driven for the day: 238 miles
