As a full time Uber driver, every day literally brings a new adventure. lol. Today, I want to share with you my first detailed Uber earnings breakdown from a single ride I had on June 9, 2023. I started using Chat GPT to help me figure out how my driving can improve. This isn’t about creating a fancy narrative; it’s about presenting the raw data and notes from my experience. Let’s get this new blog series started.
The Ride
The ride was requested at 1:31 PM and I was parked at Terminal 1 of the San Diego International Airport (SAN). This is one of 3 options for Uber drivers. The destination was San Marcos, CA. The full journey took about an hour and covered a distance of 38 miles. I was driving my 2021 Toyota Highlander in Uber X mode. So the pay is less than Uber XL but it’s all good. I drive to serve.
Uber Earnings Breakdown
The upfront fare for this ride was $32.71, which was also my earnings. Ouch. I know I can do better.
The total customer price, excluding tips, was $73.98. Uber’s total service fee for the period of May 8 – June 5 was 21.81% of the total customer price. Uber Service Fee $26.88 this gives all of us a clear picture of how much an Uber driver can earn from a single ride.
Pre-Ride Notes
Before the ride, I was at Parking Lot 1 and it’s very close to the terminal. My odometer read 14 miles when I started the trip. There was no wait time for the passenger and that is a plus for us. I had spent about an hour at the airport before the ride, working on my Morning Journal, watching YouTube videos, and making posts on Patreon.

Post-Ride Notes
The passenger was coming back home from a work trip and spent most of the ride on conference calls. I listened to two of my own videos that I created in the morning today for my YouTube Channel.

There were no challenges encountered during the ride. Interestingly, I learned about potential UFO disclosure from the government.
DISCLOSURE IS IMMINENT an Exclusive Interview
Both the passenger’s and my mood and energy were good. I pay attention to how I feel and stay in the present moment. I encourage you to compare my earnings from this Uber breakdown with your own experiences as an Uber driver.
